As the last couple of posts have been about some of my goals for 2018 I wanted to look back at 2017 both for myself and for you my lovely readers to show you if I can really walk the walk when it comes to resolutions. Hopefully it will encourage all of you as well to see that you can keep working on your goals throughout the year. Battles are not won and lost in January alone.
I always spend less time in the gym in January because it’s so packed with people who made it their resolution but I spent A TON of time in the gym in August and September. That wasn’t a resolution of mine but it’s never too late to keep trucking at making everything work out. Be healthier, be happier, keep setting those goals. You’ve got this.
Teach myself to curl my hair
I did okay-ish at this one. I curled my hair for a few events and even near the end of the year curled it for work a few times. My hair is really short right now and doesn’t hold a curl for very long but otherwise I’ve really gotten a lot better. Curling hair is all about the practice so this will always be ongoing. But I did work on it throughout the year.
Goal status: in progress
Be comfortable wearing less makeup
This is an ongoing struggle for me. I don’t often feel as comfortable going bare faced but I have walked back the amount of makeup I wear. I went months without wearing foundation, only a light primer.
Eye makeup is a big one for me, I love a fun eyeshadow look finished off with some liquid eyeliner. This year I turned it down a bit and got really into natural looking eyeshadow with black or even brown eyeshadow as eyeliner – even skipping eyeliner altogether some days. For some people that might seem silly but for me it was a big step.
Then I really stepped it up the last week, while spending time with family I have worn barely any makeup all day, most days entirely leaving my face alone. It’s a process but hey I am getting a lot more comfortable without wearing makeup.
Goal status: ongoing
I don’t often talk about my blog goals but I did a lot with my blog over the past year. In January I moved it from Squarespace to WordPress and completely redid the blog design. I’ve been working ever since adjusting the content and design to feel reflective of me.
It’s not entirely perfect yet but I do really enjoy every piece I put out and I have been gaining a lot more readers along the way. My traffic is way up, as are the comments on each post and my followers on every platform. So thank you to everyone who is joining me on this journey and I can’t wait to share more with you in 2018.
Goal Status: Achieved, now need to keep pushing
When I wrote about this one last year I lamented on how this is an ongoing problem for me. I’m a chronic overscheduler and I definitely still am, often realizing I’ve double booked myself and I didn’t really stop doing that in 2017.
This will always be an ongoing problem for me but there were points in the year when I was really bad at it and got really overwhelmed and then have to lay low for a week after to recover. So in summary… oops.
Goal status: It’s never too late to start trying right?
How did you fair on your New Year’s resolutions from last year? Are you still working on some? What were they?
That’s it for resolutions. I’m off to Vegas this weekend but I hope to pop up some other fun content while I’m there. In the meantime follow me on bloglovin’ so you don’t miss anything.
