Let’s pretend this post went up on Sunday. I’ve been working my hardest to make sure that all of the gift guides go up on time which unfortunately has meant other blog posts are pushed to the side. So bear with me as I stick to this gift guide schedule and give you some other fun content in between.
One thing I often get asked when about my blog is “how do you find the time?” Honestly I have no idea. I have a tendency to take on way too much, try to do everything and then burn out and just watch a lot of TV while accomplishing nothing then the cycle repeats.
But when you really like doing something it’s easier to squeeze them in and just find the time. One thing I really enjoy is putting together this blog post. I hope that you can find something in it that makes you happier as well.
For people who care about blogging:
So if you work in journalism, PR or marketing then you probably know a bit about brand gifting. But if you don’t, essentially PR people send bloggers and journalists free stuff in an attempt to be featured on their platform. Racked, a fashion publication, kept track of everything they received for a year and have ALL of the info over on their site. It’s fascinating to see.
Hannah Gale is one of my favourite bloggers and I KNOW I’ve talked about her before. In preparation for 2018 she talked about some of her predictions for the biggest blogging trends. It’s a fascinating read and I reckon she’s probably right about a lot of them.
Then I learned a lot from this piece on influencer fraud. Digiday went over how people are cheating on Instagram and how many people are doing. I knew how people were doing it but how far spread it is was pretty shocking to me.
Then this piece from The Baffler looks at how YouTubers are making money by acting like your professional friend. Which I don’t find any fault in, but then they dive into how this makes politics messy especially from people who really don’t know what they’re talking about.
Awesome gift guides from elsewhere:
If you are completely lost and behind I’ve been putting up new gift guides every other day for weeks now. If you want to check those out they’re all in one place on my blog under the gift guide tab.
Some other gift guides that I really like include Coming up Roses guides. I actually loved all of them but particularly her home guide.
Then one of my favourite sites for all kinds of lifestyle tips, The Every Girl, has a great budget-friendly gift guide up.
If you’re into movies and TV – watch these trailers:
If you were as obsessed with American Crime story season one as I was then you’ll be very excited to hear that season two is on the way. It’s about the Versace murder, which is extra interesting to me because I was just at the house recently.
Speaking of famous American crimes, I love a good cult story, if you love those too then you will be on the edge of your seat for this new miniseries from Paramount. It follows the stand-off between the FBI and a cult in Waco, Texas called the Branch of Davidians.
Okay time for something a little bit lighter. Have you heard there’s going to be a second Incredibles movies? You probably have but if not then watch this teaser! It’s kind of bland and won’t tell you anything except IT’S COMING.
If you loved Dirty John:
I was fascinated by Dirty John but particularly interested in the dynamics of an abusive relationship. That takes a whole other turn in this story where a man becomes angry with a woman who turns him down and then tries to destroy her whole life. With a twist, he does it by finding every single thing he can about her online. It will shock and terrify you everything that can be found and used against you online.
Also those people are nuts.
For a good chuckle:
Picture this, you’re on a fun first date and you’re talking about books together and then they tell you what their favourite book is. Likely it’s one of these and oh god they’re all so contrived. You’ve probably thought all of these things before.
Okay so maybe I didn’t keep up with this every other week but hey, once a month ain’t bad? Your best bet for keeping up to date on when new posts come out is to follow me on social (links above) or follow me on bloglovin’
