After a successful couple of weeks of going to the gym 3-4 times a week I’ve hit a speed bump and have been couch bound for the past couple of days. That speed bump comes in the form of the common cold which morphed into a fever. I was pretty much reduced to soup, catching up on This Is Us and games on my phone for two days.
Not exactly what I wanted but some good came out of it. First of all it gave me a chance to sit back and actually relax when usually I’m rushing from event to event, city to city. Second it gave me some time to actually think about the things I’ve been enjoying lately and decided I really wanted to share these things with you.
I’m a very competitive person. To get me to drink more water my partner and roommate and I all downloaded the “plant nanny” app where you water your plants each day and it tells you if you’re getting enough.
Now I have the Carrot App and it counts my steps and turns reaching my daily goal into points for the movies, planes, etc. I was pretty committed to meeting my goal but then they added a feature to compare with your friends and oh boy have I stepped my game up.
If you want to join you can use my code and we each get 100 extra points: alexandraw5688

One Second App
The first and only app I’ve ever spent money on. I tried all of the free versions and I hated them. So what is it? Each day you take one second of video and it is compiled onto a calendar timeline. You can then turn that into a weekly, monthly, tri-monthly, yearly, whatever you want – video.
I love having all of these memories all put together and seeing all the fun things I do, with each week or month kind of having an accidental theme.
New Taylor Swift merch
It’s not really a secret that I’m a big Taylor Swift fan. So big in fact that when her merch for the Reputation album was released I knew that I needed some of it. So I bought a popsocket, a crewneck reversible sweater and a t-shirt. Now at long last, more than month later, they have arrived!
I’ve been wanting a popsocket for a long time but resisted buying one knowing that this one was on the way, now I’m very obsessed. The sweater is really comfortable and the T-shirt is SO soft and such a nice cut. I actually wore it to work, tucked into a quilted skater skirt so it’s very versatile.
I bought a beautiful fall mug from Chapters back in August. I was so excited to drink cider out of, make delicious hot chocolates, maybe even my morning coffee. Ready to commit to this mug, already picturing the instagrams I would take. Then the worst happened.
As soon as I was ready to crack out the mug for photos? Poof it was gone. Into thin air. I haven’t been able to find it since and it’s completely sold out instore and online.
Does anyone know where I can get a cute fall mug, like now? I’ve seen a few on Etsy I like but they tend to take awhile to ship and I’m worried by the time they get here we’ll be in to Christmas.
Vera Moda sweaters
This week I wore a sweater to work for the first time. That’s it folks! It’s fall! I was wearing t-shirts only last week but I think the temperature has finally dropped for good and we’re going to get some fall weather. So I cracked out my knit sweater and trusty knee high socks and headed off.
Vera Moda has so many amazing sweaters right now. I’ve bought a lot from this brand over the years off ASOS and never been disappointed. It’s definitely on the higher end quality wise without being on the higher end price-wise.
The colour pink
When I was younger I was very much convinced that as a girl I needed to like the colour pink. As I got older I realized how silly that is and that in fact, blue is my favourite colour. And my wardrobe reflects that which a closet stocked full of blue. Then when I dipped into H&M and saw a pale pink knit sweater I thought maybe it was time to welcome some pink back into my life.
Then I went to Harry Styles concert and noticed the bright pink sweaters, and had to pick one up. Now I can’t get enough of a little pop of pink. I think it’s going to be a big colour this winter and it a fun way to add some life into the dreary winter pallet.
