We’re more than halfway through the year which makes it the perfect time to reflect back on our New Year’s resolutions. Listen… resolutions, goals, whatever you want to call them can be hard to stick to. We all know the gym is packed in January but empty in February. The best way to stick to those goals then, I think at least, is to revisit them. Check in with yourself and see if you’re accomplishing them.
I also have a set of monthly goals, things I want to and can accomplish each month that are more numbers focused. Number of followers on different platforms I hope to gain or what I plan to dedicate my money towards. It helps if these small goals feed into the bigger yearly goal. Then you can’t procrastinate it as hard.
That being said, I’m not doing wonderfully on all of these. So let’s revisit shall we?
Be okay without wearing makeup
I’m progressing on this. On weekends I’ve been wearing less makeup, going for lighter coverage and dropping the eyeliner some days, which is a big deal for me. Work is a bit harder, it shouldn’t be this way but a full face of makeup is seen as professional, so easing off of that is tough. I am working on it, especially as summer arrived. I dropped the dark lipstick (much better for winter anyways), went for a more natural blush, eased off the highlight, went for lighter coverage without foundation and *drumroll* haven’t been wearing winged eyeliner. This is all progress in wearing less makeup.
Do I walk around with a bare face? Pretty much never. But hey, baby steps.
Teach myself how to curl my hair
Womp womp. I’m doing terribly at this. I think I’ve curled my hair twice all year. I’m so terrible at it, so I need to practice but then I have to walk around with terrible looking hair or do it before I shower. I’m lazy. So yeah I’m not doing great at this one. They can’t all be wins.
As I said earlier I have some more number based goals. I’ve been doing really well at this, without sharing specifics (mostly because I think it’s unnecessary) I have come really close to those goals on various platforms and we’re only six months into the year. So I’ve bumped up my goals and can’t wait to see what else I can achieve while I continue to create content. I mentioned I wanted to stick to my five days a week schedule. I feel completely fine in announcing – I clearly haven’t done that. But it was for good reason. It just wasn’t sustainable. I didn’t want to put out content just for the sake of putting out content, then you’d get more mediocre posts. As it is I’m working on a two posts a week schedule which is way easier and I like my content more. Hopefully you feel this way as well and you can look forward to some exciting travel posts weekly for a while.
This is going okay… I guess. It’s about balance. My weekends are completely booked from now until eternity (or September). But during the week I’ve been easing off a bit and trying to make less plans. This does mean that I don’t see my in-town friends as much, so then I have weeks that are completely packed “catching up with people”. Side note: are you ever fully caught up with a person? Unless you live with them you will live an eternal state of catch ups. But I haven’t double-booked anyone and I don’t feel like I’m dying from overscheduling stress so I think this is progressing well.
What were your New Year’s resolutions? How are you progressing on them now that we’re into July?
Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to follow me on bloglovin’ as I have so many exciting new things on the way.
