If you read my blog you’re probably aware that last week was my birthday because I talked about what I still don’t know and what I want to do this year. But I was mostly pretty tight-lipped about what I actually got up to.
Now that all of the celebrations are wrapped up I thought it would be a good time to catch you up on what I did and what I got. Especially after my birthday wish list was so well read. I didn’t get any clothes but I’ll be doing a spring clothes post soon to show some of the pieces I’ve picked up for the changing season.
Let me know in the comments what you enjoy doing for your birthday.
What I did for my birthday
Most of my lovely friends are scattered across the province and some across the country. So it makes celebrating together pretty difficult. This year I decided I didn’t really want to miss out on that so I travelled to Ottawa. I stayed with my friend Kevin the weekend before.
We spent the Friday night doing out favourite things – watching survivor, eating pizza and talking. Saturday we spent the afternoon getting to know Kevin’s adorable new dog. Before spending the afternoon chatting over coffee with my other friend, Raye.
We then went out for dinner with all of my close friends in Ottawa.
On my actual birthday my partner came into town and we went to dinner and played trivia. I’m a huge trivia fan and I used to play all of the time with my friends in Ottawa before moving. Since I’ve moved a few friends and I have talked a lot about going to play but it just hasn’t come together. I think after we had so much fun on my birthday though we’ll be heading back.
It was low key but I got to spend it with all of my favourite people which is exactly what I wanted and what I wish I got to do everyday. The saddest part was the people I couldn’t see because they’re spread across the country or the province. It was definitely a lot simpler when we all lived in one place.
What I ate for my birthday
A week before my birthday my good friends took me to a beautiful French bakery and chocolate shop. We definitely took pictures of all the pastries but I seem to have misplaced them. But you can see some of the chocolates above.
When I was Ottawa we made sure to eat at lots of my favourite places. We checked out Art-is-in for Brunch of course and had dinner at one of my favourite French places – La Metropolitain. Before I left Ottawa we headed to a little French cafe that I can’t remember the name of for some coffee and treats.
On my actual birthday we went to the Drake Hotel for dinner before we played trivia (we were there more for the trivia than the food). My lovely friends Joey and Stephen made me an adorable birthday cake which I don’t seem to have any photos of… this is what I get for taking snapchats.
What I got for my birthday
This is the part I know most people are here for – if you haven’t already just scrolled through all of the photos and left.
Rather than separate the gifts based on how bought me what, I decided to separate based them on what they are. So below you’ll see beauty products, hair accessories, and lifestyle. I’ll link to what I can. Not pictured: my new iphone and case, my new photo printer and my new camera lens. The lens helped take these photos though so it’s here in spirit. I love it so much I can’t wait to show you some of the amazing photos I’ve taken using it next week.
Also I got a TON of candy because clearly everyone knows me very well (I have a terrible sweet tooth). I didn’t take pictures of all of the candy because honestly – I have already eaten a lot of it.
I need to mention how much I LOVE getting cards. It’s so nice to have little personal messages from people on my birthday. Not all of them are pictured because a) they’re personal and b) I put most of them up at work so they weren’t around when I was taking photos.
What do you like doing for your birthday? This was probably the most low key birthday I’ve ever had, something about getting older makes birthdays get a little more low key. Do you feel that way as well?
Also, in case you’re new around here I am BIG on holidays. So all of next week will be devoted to Easter content, come back and check that out.
