Since by now you know I’m all about the theme, (have you been enjoying the week of Valentine’s content?) you’ll probably realize I also love dressing for a theme. This means that for Christmas I am all about the whimsical jumpers and I also own forest green pants that I whip out for that time of year. As far as Valentine’s goes I wear lots of red and pink outfits with hearts leading up to the day.
So to give you a bit of inspiration I have put together a couple of outfits that you can either wear out on a fancy date, for a night-in or whatever it is you have on deck for your Valentine’s.
Let me know what you think of the outfits in the comments below and what you plan on wearing!
This is probably the most classic of any of my suggestions. Who can argue with an adorable red dress (with a bit of lace too!), classic black heels and some gold hearts in your ears. Plus none of these pieces are too out there that you wouldn’t be able to wear them not on Valentine’s.
I own this sweater (you can see it here) and love how you can wear it casually with jeans or dress it up a little with a skirt like the one above. Also these ballet flats are amazing, I’m picking up a pair for spring (they come in more than one colour).
This outfit is if you want to go with a very very on theme look (the dress actually comes in a few different colours if you’d prefer a more subtle black). I’m obsessed with these shoes. The bag pulls it all together to be loud and very on theme. Hey that’s what some people are into.
The fun part about wearing a simple black but pretty dress is that you can dress it up or dress it down however you want. I picked out three fun heart accessories but you could go with a simple black shoe and no clutch with just the pendant, or any other combination you like. Dress it up with some simple hearts.
I think this is my favourite dress out of all of them. I love the simple front with the bow back detailing. The berry colour also gives it a subtle Valentine’s look that can carry on into the rest of winter. But you might be a little bit cold in this one if you live in a colder climate like I do (but hey I’ll be somewhere warm for Valentine’s Day). I’ve chosen to pair them with these simple heart embroidered tights that won’t necessarily give a that much warmth but hey they couldn’t heart, and then a towering heel. I love an ankle strap, I always think shoes with them look so much more romantic.
Can you tell I’m really into the ribbon shoes? Such a beautiful trend and it is the trend of the moment so why not get on board? Plus I always feel like if you’re going to wear a skirt this length you have to wear heels with it, but that might just be my height talking (I’m short). This bodysuit comes in so many different colours and I love Aritzia body suits. I get a lot of questions about where I get mine (maybe I’ll do a post on it when I start bringing them out more for summer) and it’s always Aritzia. They’re such good quality and have the basic silhouettes but often a fun back (like this one that’s backless).
What do you think of the outfits? Most of the pieces are on the lower cost end because I’m not going to recommend to you guys something that I wouldn’t buy myself. I think the blogging world has enough people suggesting to you that you should buy a $7000 blazer, you don’t need me to do it as well. I actually shop at and like the places I recommend items from.
Also let me know if you like this type of post and if I should do some more style-inspired posts.
