I don’t know about you but I love a good theme. I mean clearly, I turned my usually black and white blog to pink for Valentine’s Day. So when getting ready for a holiday I like everything to fit into the theme. That includes my makeup. I thought I’d share some of my favourite Valentine’s themed makeup with you for whatever you decide to do next Tuesday.
Side note: If you don’t have a significant other to spend Valentine’s with that’s totally okay. I won’t be spend it with my partner, I won’t even be in the country this year. I can still wear some pink nail polish to celebrate a fun holiday though.
Valentine’s has such a clear colour scheme for a holiday that you truly have no excuse not to have themed nails. Now if you’re like me and you’re not super talented with nail art that just means adding a nice pink or red for a subtle look. But if you want to and can do hearts you might like to use these colours.
My favourites are: Essie’s Fiji, American Apparel’s Lipstick (I know this might be hard to find now but they were such amazing quality), and Essie’s enuf is enuf.
For your lips I think the romantic holiday is the perfect time to wear a sweet pink lip. My favourite two options are Revlon Colorburst in the colour 210 – unapologetic. It’s bright and fun with a vibrant pink pigment. If you want a slightly lighter colour try Nyx’s Tokyo, it’s a super romantic looking light pink.
When it comes to eyeshadow there is nothing that could do the job of making your face look Valentine’s ready like the Urban Decay’s Naked 3 palette. I was kind of nervous of this palette because my complexion is very red-toned so I wasn’t sure it would work for me. But the pinks work as nice neutrals and can still add a pop. You can clearly see how much I’ve loved the glittery colours (wearing one down to the tin). But for a subtle look I’d go with Strange in the corner, limit in the middle and Mooner on the edge. Then blend blend blend.
I love Too Faced’s Sweetheart blush for a nice natural glowy look. I bought this in the summer and retired it for a bit of the winter but returned to it when I was in a makeup slump. You can use any of the three colours or all three swirled together.
Lastly for a scent I have this solid perfume from Zoella. It’s a favourite of mine to just throw in a bag and then dab on if I need a little something extra because it’s not too strong and I don’t like to wear perfumes in case it affects someone’s allergies or something. It’s perfect for a small Valentine’s touch in this adorable heart-shaped tin.
What makeup will you be wearing for Valentine’s Day? Do you love a theme as much as I do?
