Hello there lovely reader. Maybe you weren’t around this summer when I went on a series of road trips throughout the East Coast of Canada. I went to PEI, Halifax, Fredericton, moved to Moncton and travelled around that area. Every time I used this one trick that made going to new places so much less stressful and easier to navigate. It’s something that may sound really simple, but Google Maps.
No I don’t just mean looking at the app on my phone when I’m lost (although wow would I get way more lost without it). I mean the feature that Google Maps has called My Maps. You’re able to do your research, find your own maps and then overlay them on top of a regular map that you’re looking at. I always like to do my research ahead of time, colour code things based on sites, restaurants etc. then wherever I am I can open the map and see lots of options.
It allows for planning but it also allows for a lot of wiggle room that you don’t have to decide where you want to eat ahead of time. You can play things by year and then just see where you end up.
I made one for vegan restaurants in Toronto
For our trip in Halifax
And I plan on making more this summer as I do a bit more traveling. If you have any questions about them (how to make them or features that it entails) let me know! I’d be happy to help. This has completely changed how I travel.
