I’m very excited to be writing this blog post today. Ever since I was little I’ve wanted a little space or mini home to call my own. There used to be these sheds made into tiny houses for young kids to play in. I wanted one so so badly, I’d constantly ask my parents for one. For years. But they were really expensive. Then every year at the mall during Christmas there would be a giveaway, so my mom and I would excitedly enter, but we never home.
Now I’ve noticed recently there’s a rise in the focus on Tiny Homes – I watch HGTV a bit too much. I’ve been fascinated by them, but they’re not quite for me. I’d rather an apartment in the city.
Then recently I wrote a piece for my work (for those of you who don’t know, I moved out to New Brunswick to write for a newspaper). It’s about a woman in Moncton, named Larissa Flanagan, who turned her backyard into a workspace or as she calls it a “she shed”. Her shed then got noticed by an Australian publishing company and put in a book of she sheds. You can check out that story here (heads up you need a subscription but it costs 99 cents a month, so like come on).
This idea stuck in my mind and sparked my imagination. I have wanted a little space or office space for so long, and now I think I might want a she shed.
So I started checking out pinterest (something I literally never do, except for halloween costume inspiration). And now I actually have pinterest boards so check me out.
I currently live in an apartment so I won’t be getting one any time soon but it’s nice to dream.
I have a few things on my checklist:
I’d like a big bookcase with a comfy seating area
A desk up against a wall so I decorate above it with art,
And for the exterior I’d like it to be white.
That’s it for this Monday’s post, I’m going on a very brief trip this week but it might make Thursday’s post a bit difficult, so I apologize in advance if I don’t get one up.
What do you think of she sheds? Do you want one, what would you put in yours?
